Splodge the Kangaroo sketches

This is a one-off from my normal output of graphic design, but these little sketches were so good that I felt they were worth sharing.

When I was a wee boy, I grew up with the Australian cartoon "The Adventures of Blinky Bill" and also the movie as well.
I liked watching it as a kid, but as an adult, it seriously wasn't all that good.
One thing that stuck out to me as a kid is that all the animal characters wore bottoms (trousers, overalls etc.) and I thought that was the cutest thing ever!
Splodge the Kangaroo stuck out especially - unlike the rest of the characters who were stupid, bland and extremely annoying, he was quiet, sensitive, kind and friendly; an antipodean teddy bear. It is a shame that nothing interesting was ever done with him in the show.
To this day I still think he's very sweet and is competently voice-acted by Keith Scott.

Unlike in the show, you can see that I have redrawn Splodge with dotted eyes; a common feature in British children's books illustrations (Nick Butterworth, Raymond Briggs, Helen Oxenbury etc.)
A simple change like this to the original Gross design makes Splodge look cuter and friendlier, and personally helped me convey his emotional expressions easier.
I'm not sure if I'll make more drawings like these, my area is still with logos, photography and maps, but nevertheless, I really hope you like this one.
